Every Wednesday at noon, Ryan Schleicher, Evan Rytlewski, and Matt Wild take to the WMSE airwaves to discuss all things Milwaukee. This half-hour fun-fest is called The Disclaimer, so named because none of the oft-ridiculous views expressed on the show necessarily reflect the views of the hosts’ employers. Milwaukee music, Milwaukee art, Milwaukee events, and D.I.Y. lawn care tips are frequently discussed—and rarely agreed upon. The Disclaimer: Talk radio for the sane.
Back in the 1960s, at the height of Beatlemania, rumors began swirling that Beatles co-frontman Paul McCartney was dead and that he had been replaced with an imposter. A half-century later, a similar controversy is rocking the world: IS HANK THE DOG DEAD? Yes, in the wake of a half-serious post on Brew Crew Ball, Milwaukee has been left to wonder if Hank, the adorable stray “ballpark pup” that wandered into Maryvale Baseball Park during the Milwaukee Brewers’ 2014 spring training and was subsequently adopted and embraced by the team and fans alike, is, in fact, the real Hank. But is Brew Crew Ball barking up the wrong tree? (The Brewers seem to think so.) Ryan, Evan, and Matt dig into this lovable conspiracy theory, along with this year’s WAMI nominations and a recent Noisey article about the death of the album review. Who’s a good episode of The Disclaimer? Who’s a good episode of The Disclaimer?
