Now that Wisconsin State Fair has ended and we’re more than halfway into the month of August, Milwaukee’s festival season is pretty much over, right? Wrong! Between now and summer’s final day on September 22, there’s a wealth of festivals, block parties, recurring music series, and other spurts of seasonal celebration on the books. This weekend alone offers events like Milwaukee Irish Fest, Float Fest, Milwaukee IPA Fest, Brady Street Art Walk, The Bloody Mary Festival, and an oft-overlooked local festival known as IndiaFest Milwaukee.

Entering its 10th year, IndiaFest Milwaukee—presented by Spindle India, Inc.—promotes “diversity, inclusion, culture, civilization and bringing communities together beyond borders, boundaries, languages, region and religion.” The event serves to celebrate India’s independence day while also aspiring to strengthen “India-US relations through cultural and civilizational value.”

This year’s IndiaFest Milwaukee will take place at Humboldt Park in Bay View on Saturday, August 20. Starting at 11 a.m., the festival will offer all of the aforementioned cultural touchstones. That heritage will also be acknowledged through art, music, food, and other activities. Tickets to IndiaFest Milwaukee are on sale now. Advance tickets are $12 for people ages 12 and up, $8 for children 6 to 11 years old, and free for kids 5 and under.
