Do you love bobbleheads? Do you love typewriters? Do you love bobbleheads that pay tribute to the inventor of the first commercial typewriter? Then have we got news for you!
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum recently unveiled a new bobblehead of Christopher Latham Sholes, the Milwaukee newspaper publisher, politician, and, yes, commercial typewriter inventor. Sholes pioneered the modern QWERTY keyboard layout, too. Fittingly, the bobblehead was created in collaboration with QWERTYFEST MKE, the annual celebration of all things that go clickity-clack.
“The Sholes bobblehead is the perfect desktop accouterment,” says QWERTYFEST MKE co-founder (and OnMilwaukee senior writer) Molly Snyder. “I can’t wait to have the inventor of the revolutionary communication machine bobbling away while I work.”
“This is such a fun way to celebrate an important chapter of Milwaukee history,” adds QWERTYFEST MKE’S other co-founder, author (and Milwaukee Record contributor) Tea Krulos. “I’ve already cleared space off on my desk for this guy and will look to him for inspiration.”
You can pre-oder your Sholes bobblehead for $35 NOW. It will be ready for pick-up or delivery this fall, ahead of the 2025 QWERTYFEST MKE, October 3-5.
