Back in October, a West Allis-based brewery made national news and revived the debate about a polarizing Halloween treat by releasing a candy corn beer. Now, less than two months after Westallion Brewing Company indulged the collective curiosity of metro Milwaukee beer lovers (and grossed out Stephen Colbert in the process) with its Candy Corn Cream Ale, the brewery is planning to offer another unique beer that’s based on a traditional holiday offering.

Yesterday, Westallion announced it will officially release an Eggnog White Stout this week. Noting “eggnog has had to live a life shrouded in desolation and despair,” the brewery wanted the rich, controversial wintry beverage to be “the star of the show for once.” To do so, Westallion infused Marris Otter malt and other specialty malts with cinnamon sticks and nutmeg. Later in the brewing process, they added two types of coffee, vanilla beans, and so-called “natural flavors” to complete the unlikely eggnog-y transformation.

The beer was quietly introduced last weekend at West Allis’ Christkindl Markt, but it will also be available on draft at Westallion’s taproom starting Thursday, December 6. Depending on your feelings about eggnog and your level of holiday cheer, you’ll probably either love or hate Westallion Brewing Company’s Eggnog White Stout. We know we’re excited to try it.
