Last year saw longstanding south side pizzeria Pepi’s Pizza relocating to Brady Street, then moving out of the space less than nine months later. Since Pepi’s exodus, the restaurant—which occupied two storefronts, 1320 and 1330 E. Brady St.—was divided to host two separate businesses. The 1320 storefront is now home to Fro Zone, and new gourmet rolled ice cream shop that opened June 3. Evidently, the other half now has an occupant as well.

Exterior signage indicates 1330 E. Brady is to become The King Crab Shack. The restaurant, which has another location at 3881 S. 27th St., specializes in fresh seafood such as lobster, crawfish, and crab, as well as Vietnamese noodle dishes. The extensive work being put into the business’ stripped interior suggests the opening of the second King Crab Shack is still months away. Hopefully, a facelift and focus on seafood will break the “cursed” location’s run of bad luck that counts Pepi’s Pizza, The Philly Way, and Miss Groove Limited among its recent casualties.
