Every Wednesday at noon, Ryan Schleicher, Evan Rytlewski, and Matt Wild take to the WMSE airwaves to discuss all things Milwaukee. This half-hour fun-fest is called The Disclaimer, so named because none of the oft-ridiculous views expressed on the show necessarily reflect the views of the hosts’ employers. Milwaukee music, Milwaukee art, Milwaukee events, and D.I.Y. lawn care tips are frequently discussed—and rarely agreed upon. The Disclaimer: talk radio for the sane.

Much like cancer or the career of Jerry O’Connell, the push to redesign Milwaukee’s official flag refuses to die. The busy, kitchen-sink flag was adopted in 1955, and features clip-art-style depictions of a barley stalk, something that looks like a giant computer mouse, maybe a UFO, and the long-demolished County Stadium, among other things. So far, campaigns to update the flag—including a recent one inspired by a fucking TED Talk—have gone nowhere.

But is the flag really that horrible? Ryan, Evan, and Matt—okay, mostly Evan—take issue with the endless “Our flag is really that horrible!” talk and stick up for our charming little logo. Change.org and people who try to whitewash Milwaukee’s history are trashed in the process. Later, Matt discusses the Violent Femmes’ oft-contentious standing as Milwaukee’s most famous musical export, Evan ponders the identity of Summerfest’s still-unnamed July 4 Marcus Amphitheater headliner, and Ryan gets pissed about Imagine Dragons paying tribute to Ben E. King. Fun!
