Since 2015, Riverwest FemFest has been an annual celebration and platform for femmes, trans, GNC, women, non-binary, and POC artists. Over the D.I.Y. event’s first five years, FemFest has also managed to raise tens of thousands of dollars for deserving Milwaukee organizations. The sixth annual installment was supposed to take place at a variety of Milwaukee venues May 22-24, but the ongoing COVID-19 crisis has prompted organizers to postpone the large-scale event indefinitely.

As FemFest waits for a time when it’s safe for large groups to gather in a concert setting, they’ve decided to shift to a virtual version for the time being in order to raise money for local organizations. The first Riverwest FemFest virtual livestream will take place Friday, May 29. Starting at 7 p.m. and running through 10 p.m., performances from a wide range of musicians will be streamed on FemFest’s Instagram page. Money raised during the first monthly installment will be donated to Ayuda Mutua MKE and Cactus Club.
