Miller Lite’s Free Rides returns to Milwaukee this St. Patrick’s Day weekend for another year of responsible celebrations
This year, transit will be free on Saturday, March 16, beginning at 6 p.m. through end of service
MILWAUKEE – Feb. 29, 2024 – Those celebrating St. Patrick’s Day weekend festivities in Brew City can plan for a ride courtesy of Miller Lite’s Free Rides program in partnership with the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS). To best serve revelers enjoying the weekend of Irish cheer, Miller Lite is implementing new program timing by offering fare-free public transportation beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 16 until the end of regular service on all routes.
“St. Patrick’s Day in Milwaukee is an event not to be missed with vibrant cultural experiences and many opportunities for our city to come together in the spirit of the holiday,” said Alison Hanrahan, community affairs manager, Molson Coors. “While we celebrate this occasion together, we want our community to know that free rides are readily available on Saturday evening, offering an accessible and reliable option to get to their destinations safely.”
Miller Lite’s Free Rides program began in Milwaukee in 1988 and has offered public transit to local residents for almost four decades, solidifying Molson Coors’ commitment to promoting responsible celebrations and giving back to its hometown communities. While St. Patrick’s Day Free Rides will kick off the 2024 program, Free Rides will be provided nationwide during other major holidays and sporting events throughout the year. In 2023, Molson Coors partnered with local transit in nine cities to provide fare-free rides over five events. Last year, the program provided nearly 10,000 rides in the Milwaukee area alone. Since its inception, more than 8 million rides have been provided nationwide.
“We are proud to support Miller Lite once again for its St. Patrick’s Day Free Rides program, helping our community take part in the events and traditions we look forward to each year,” said Kristina Hoffman, director of marketing and communications, MCTS. “Luckily for everyone in the Milwaukee area, getting a free ride on MCTS has never been easier – just hop on, enjoy the ride and embrace the luck of the Irish.”
In addition to Milwaukee, Molson Coors will offer Free Rides on March 16 to St. Patrick’s Day revelers celebrating in the Twin Cities.
Those in the Milwaukee area can visit the MCTS website to review transit routes and make plans for a free ride this St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
