We’re big fans of Ale Asylum. Not only did the Madison-based craft brewery come on to be the first sponsor of our On The Record podcast (before episode one, mind you!), they’re also willing to provide their affiliation…not to mention free beer for almost any fun, weird, and outside-the-box event we can conjure. (Hint: the next one will be announced Tuesday.) Oh yeah, they also have an outstanding arsenal of delicious beers. Join Ale Asylum and Milwaukee Record tomorrow evening to sample the two newest beers in the up-and-coming brewery’s impressive lineup.
Friday, August 21 at 5 p.m., Milwaukee will get its first taste of Impending Dissent and Impending Descent, when the pair of stouts that have been tank-aged for a year will be tapped at Ale Asylum Riverhouse (1110 N. Old World Third St.). The former is “black as night” Belgium-style imperial stout and the latter is a full-bodied Russian imperial stout. Both boast a whopping 10.5 percent ABV. Sample pours (five ounces) of the limited run stouts cost $3, and sets of two 22-ounce bomber bottles can be pre-purchased for $40. Of course, Riverhouse’s full food and beer menu will also be available.
This event is a Milwaukee-specific precursor for Ale Asylum’s Ferment Dissent: Imperial Stout Riot And Festival at the Madison brewery on Saturday, August 29. The event runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and features carnival games, local food trucks and music from Reverend Horton Heat. Tickets are $25 and include a commemorative pint glass and two six-ounce pours of the new ultra rare imperials.
