Every Wednesday at noon, Ryan Schleicher, Evan Rytlewski, and Matt Wild take to the WMSE airwaves to discuss all things Milwaukee. This half-hour fun-fest is called The Disclaimer, so named because none of the oft-ridiculous views expressed on the show necessarily reflect the views of the hosts’ employers. Milwaukee music, Milwaukee art, Milwaukee events, and D.I.Y. lawn care tips are frequently discussed—and rarely agreed upon. The Disclaimer: Talk radio for the sane.
By now you’ve likely heard all about that “offensive” sculpture in Shorewood, about how a New Jersey blogger found what he claimed were plain-as-day anti-Semitic messages in the sculpture’s jumbled letters, and about how Shorewood decided to remove the sculpture and “correct” it. Well, you’re about to hear it all again. Ryan, Evan, and Matt piece together this fascinating story one random letter at a time, with Matt crying foul over what he sees as some bush-league “Bible Code” bullshit, Evan crying out for some understanding, and Ryan speculating on what it means to cry wolf. Also, is the media’s current click-bait climate (as discussed on last week’s show) to blame for giving one random crank from New Jersey more attention that he deserves? Of course it is.
