Every Wednesday at noon, Ryan Schleicher, Evan Rytlewski, and Matt Wild take to the WMSE airwaves to discuss all things Milwaukee. This half-hour fun-fest is called The Disclaimer, so named because none of the oft-ridiculous views expressed on the show necessarily reflect the views of the hosts’ employers. Let’s admit it: other than Laura Dern popping up in just about everything, 2017 was a terrible year. So let’s talk about some stuff we actually liked! Ryan, Evan, and Matt enter 2018 on a positive note by rounding up some Milwaukee things—mostly Milwaukee media things—that they appreciated in the year that was. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel‘s headline-making reporting on Mexico resort blackouts, James Causey’s excellent “What Happened To Us?” project, local record labels, the Cactus Club, Urban Milwaukee, and a nice series on vanishing South Side taverns all make the cut. Plus, Ryan and Evan argue about the never-ending Miller Park tax. Happy new year!
