Every Wednesday at noon, Ryan Schleicher, Evan Rytlewski, and Matt Wild take to the WMSE airwaves to discuss all things Milwaukee. This half-hour fun-fest is called The Disclaimer, so named because none of the oft-ridiculous views expressed on the show necessarily reflect the views of the hosts’ employers. Milwaukee music, Milwaukee art, Milwaukee events, and D.I.Y. lawn care tips are frequently discussed—and rarely agreed upon. The Disclaimer: Talk radio for the sane.

Let’s admit it: other than Laura Dern popping up in just about everything, 2017 was a terrible year. So let’s talk about some stuff we actually liked! Ryan, Evan, and Matt enter 2018 on a positive note by rounding up some Milwaukee things—mostly Milwaukee media things—that they appreciated in the year that was. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel‘s headline-making reporting on Mexico resort blackouts, James Causey’s excellent “What Happened To Us?” project, local record labels, the Cactus Club, Urban Milwaukee, and a nice series on vanishing South Side taverns all make the cut. Plus, Ryan and Evan argue about the never-ending Miller Park tax. Happy new year!
