The past few times we’ve covered the life and times of Trixie Mattel (in what has quickly become a recurring thing for us), the Milwaukee drag superstar and former RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars champion was keeping busy hosting The Pit Stop, becoming part-owner of This Is It, inspiring a menu item at Chipotle, and covering an iconic Violent Femmes song as part of a great covers EP. As busy and impressive as her 2021 has been already, this month’s update truly takes the cake. Trixie Mattel is getting a TV show.

The local entertainment legend recently announced she will star in a renovation series called Trixie Motel, which will reportedly premiere on the Discovery+ network sometime next year.

According to Queerty (who is citing an official statement the publication received from Discovery+), the series will start filming in late 2021. Queerty has more on the show’s synopsis:

Trixie Motel will follow Trixie and her boyfriend, David, as they take over an old-school motel in Palm Springs. The first season will run eight episodes, and chronicle their remodel of the building as they convert it into a drag-themed paradise.”

Sounds great to us! Check back for more updates on Trixie Motel when the series gets closer to airing. And check back in at some point in June, when we’ll almost certainly have news about Mattel’s next amazing career accomplishment.
