Longtime Milwaukee Record readers will remember our reviews of Summerfest‘s Taped / Pre-Recorded Music. From 2014 through 2021, our very own Tyler Maas would go to Summerfest at noon on opening day, head over to JoJo’s Martini Lounge on the south end of the grounds, and bask in an hour of canned music that was always mysteriously included and advertised on the Lounge’s schedule.
Sadly, things eventually petered out. (Twenty-nineteen’s headline: “Review: Nothing, formerly known as ‘Taped Music’ and ‘Pre-Recorded Music,’ at JoJo’s Martini Lounge.”) JoJo’s was eventually rebranded as the South Party Pavilion, and then, in 2025, as the country-themed Lasso Lounge. Well the Lasso Lounge is returning in 2026! That’s good news for country fans, but bad news for anyone still holding out hope for the return of Pre-Recorded Music. (Just us, but still.)
