On March 1 of last year, Milwaukee Record debuted our “My First Band” podcast. Each and every Friday since then, we’ve released a long-form interview with a different musician that traces their onstage origins, significant moments in their musical journey, and all the ups and downs they’ve experienced along the way. In the 90 episodes we’ve released since the show’s start, we’ve chatted with a wealth of notable local and Midwestern acts, some celebrated national performers, renowned punk rockers, Grammy nominees and winners, and other internationally-known artists from all corners of the musical spectrum. Hell, we’ve even worked a few comedians into the mix.

It’s been a fun ride so far, and as we prepare to end My First Band’s first full year as a podcast and make our way to the 100-episode milestone, we have some exciting news. We’re going to be on the radio! Starting December 2, WMSE will start re-airing My First Band.

Figuring things have, well, changed since the start of this year, they’re going to start with the episode we did with Asian Man Records founder and Skankin’ Pickle bandleader Mike Park in May. You can listen to the station’s My First Band re-broadcasts every Wednesday from noon to 12:30 p.m. Listen to more details in this special announcement below, and you can hear host Tyler Maas talk about it on WMSE at 12:30 p.m. today.
