It’s official, folks: the Marcus Center snow pile—a.k.a. the big pile of snow on the east side of the Marcus Performing Arts Center parking structure in Downtown Milwaukee, 929 N. Water St.—has melted. Date of death: April 13, 2026.
Here it was last week, on April 6:

And here it is/was today, on April 13:

This snow pile is no more. It has ceased to be. It’s expired and gone to meet its maker. This is a late snow pile.
Yeah, it may have actually bitten the big one over the weekend (we’re pretty sure we saw it last Friday), but since we’re the ones who keep track of this dumb thing, we’re sticking with April 13.
In 2025, it melted early, on March 26. In 2024, April 15. In 2023, April 30. In both 2022 and 2021, April 8. We probably have records going even further back, but knowing the exact dates for the past five years is sad enough.

But wait! Another pile remains! Yes, we’re keeping track of two Marcus Center snow piles this year, and the one on the south side of the structure on State Street still has some life in it:

So let’s vote on when this pile will melt! (Only two people guessed April 13 for the main pile.) Spring is finally here, Milwaukee! And our snow pile T-shirts are still available!
