In keeping with our thrilling Facebook contest earlier this afternoon, we’re required by law to report that a few new stores are opening in The Shops of Grand Avenue. According to the Milwaukee Business Journal, three retailers will make a valiant attempt to populate the cavernous downtown mall in June: Kidz Closet (children’s clothing); Memah’s Kitchen (bakery); and LipSplash by Kelvy B (handmade lip gloss).
The Business Journal goes on to note that six other retailers have made Grand Ave. their home in recent months, bringing the combined newly non-empty space up to 32,000 square feet. How these stores will compete with Grand Ave. staples like Boston Store, T.J.Maxx, and those windows in the food court that get a lot of nice sunlight in the spring remains unclear.
