Two months after announcing a temporary closure, Bay View bar-restaurant staple Palomino (2491 S. Superior St.) will reopen its bar on weekends, beginning Friday, September 9.

The news was revealed via social media:

She won’t be dark much longer! We are reopening this Friday! Cold beer and hot whiskey are back! the good food will take a little longer as we continue working to staff our kitchens. But for now, we will have a small menu of bar snacks available or you can visit one of the great food trucks that set up on the weekend on Russell St.

Our Fall/Winter hours will be Fridays and Saturdays 5p til midnight and Sundays 11am til 7p (we’ll adjust for those Sunday night packers games!)

Back in July, Palomino announced a temporary closure “due to the severe staffing shortages in our industry brought about by the pandemic.” That announcement said that Palomino would be open for special events only, and that normal food and bar service would hopefully return “next year.”

A special Barrel Bourbon dinner is currently set for Thursday, September 15.

Palomino originally opened in 2002. It’s currently owned by Valeri Lucks and Derek Petersen, who also operate Honeypie, Smallpie, and the recently reopened Comet.

Excited about drinking at Palomino but still craving the restaurant’s beloved chicken sandwich? Good news: that sandwich is available at Honeypie.
