It’s been nearly a month since Milwaukee towing company All City Towing successfully towed the Milwaukee Boat, a.k.a. the S.S. Minnow, the S.S. Milwaukee, Deep Thought, or just The Boat. Now, three Milwaukee County Supervisors have announced their intentions to “raise a toast honoring All City Towing crew members for their success” in removing the beloved vessel.

On Friday, June 6, Supervisors Jack Eckblad, Shawn Rolland, and Sky Z. Capriolo will trek out to the All City Towing lot and raise a toast with the All City Towing crew. The supervisors will personally donate a keg of Miller High Life for the press event. “Upon learning that its ‘Champagne of Beers’ was requested for the celebration,” reads a press release, “Molson Coors has also donated a case of Miller High Life and a Miller High Life T-shirt to each member of the crew, which will be presented Friday.”

The press release continues:

Molson Coors, whose Miller brewery has made beer in Milwaukee for 170 years, is pleased to support its community, whether by raising funds for the city’s parks system, supporting first responders or thanking the hard-working people who dislodge moored boats from the city’s jewel of a lakefront.

Okay, that’s funny.

Will there be “brief remarks” from the supervisors and All City Towing’s management? Yes. Will there be photo opportunities? Yes. Will we attend the press event even though OUR LIVES ARE EMPTY WITHOUT THAT STUPID THING JUST SITTING THERE ON THE LAKEFRONT? Yes.

We miss you, Boat. You’ll always Still Be There in our hearts.
