It could be said of pretty much any annal in recent memory, but it’s been a big year for Trapper Schoepp. The tireless Milwaukee troubadour’s 2025 consisted of the usual cluster of festival appearances and high profile support slots for touring talent, starring opposite Mark Borchardt in the video for the lead single from his new album, the release of said album (the excellent Osborne), and a recent Vivarium record release show.

Before concluding yet another accomplished year with a European tour and preparing for what’s sure to be an even more prolific 2026, Schoepp is treating listeners to another visual pairing for a standout Osborne track. Today marks the release of his “Kentucky Derby” music video. Nodding to the song’s name, the Ehson Rad-shot and -directed video features Schoepp in the company of horses at Snapdragon Farm & Stables in Dane County.

Beyond the equine-forward footage, Rad also captures gorgeous shots of the singer cruising around the industrial backdrop of Jones Island and performing with his backing band at Muza Church in South Milwaukee. Come for the horses, stay for the delicate music and stunning imagery, and watch Trapper Schoepp’s “Kentucky Derby” music video now.
