In addition to offering close to 90 Wisconsin-brewed beers, having outstanding happy hour specials (seven days a week!), hosting a great selection of pinball machines, and being an all-around delightful place to grab a drink in Bay View, Blackbird is also an ardent supporter of Milwaukee music. The bar–which is co-owned by a member of The Championship–has employed numerous local musicians through the years. It’s not unusual to hear an area act playing over the bar’s speakers. In recent years, Blackbird has also invited local bands in one night a week to work the turntables for its “From The Stage To The Booth” DJ series.
Formerly from 10 to close on Fridays during fall and winter, the series will now take place Wednesday nights from 8 p.m. to midnight. Blackbird asked Milwaukee Record to kick off the series with an October 5 Local Spin. Moreover, the bar also allowed us to book the remainder of this year’s series. From Soul Low to NO/NO to Direct Hit! to 88Nine on-air personalities, and what’s sure to be an unforgettable set by Sammy Arechar’s “Yung Zucchini” DJ alias, here’s who they, er, we have providing the soundtrack for this year’s installment of the popular series.
