About 15 years ago, a group of friends realized Milwaukee’s 414 area code had a striking resemblance to the numerals in April 14 (or 4/14) and decided to turn that coincidence into a full-blown local holiday. Since its unlikely outset, Milwaukee Day has resulted in an official mayoral proclamation, a ceremonial first pitch before a Brewers game, an abundance of civic-centered specials offered by area businesses, a wide-reaching hashtag, a cameo on Jeopardy!, and a holiday-themed beer.

The holiday has also become a day to celebrate local music, the wealth of music and comedy venues, and the creative spirit that helps make Milwaukee a special place to call home. To help you celebrate Sunday’s Milwaukee Day festivities to the best of your ability, Milwaukee Record has rounded up a ton of events, specials, and more that will make the latest civic celebration one for the ages.

Alex Sitze + Joseph Patrick Murphy @ Company Brewing
We don’t know too much about this one, but since it’s happening on April 14 and the show poster has the Hoan Bridge and the “4/14” numerals on it, we’ll count it.

414 Day @ Elwood’s Liquor & Tap
Sure, there are a lot of great Milwaukee Day events, but how many of them offer an opportunity to meet The Milverine himself? Just one…at least by our count. Elwood’s Liquor & Tap will be selling limited edition Milverine shirts and will have the local super hero on-site this Sunday afternoon as well. There will also be a food truck, live tattooing, and drink specials.

414 Day @ Harley-Davidson Museum
Calling itself Milwaukee’s biggest 414 Day Party, Harley-Davidson Museum (with a media assist by OnMilwaukee) is treating folks to ticket giveaways, drink specials, a burger contest, and discounted H-D Museum admission this Sunday. There’s also going to be a cheers to Milwaukee at 4:14 p.m.

MKE Day 2024 @ New Barons Brewing Co-Op and Twisted Path Distillery
New Barons and Twisted Path are joining forces in their relatively cozy spaces to make one massive MKE Day 2024 event complete with live music, a food truck, giveaways galore, and (of course) an abundance of great beer and cocktails.

MKE Day Party @ Component Brewing Co.
Adding to the Lincoln Warehouse fun New Barons and Twisted Path are offering is a “MKE Day Party” at Component Brewing Co. that will feature two new beer releases (in collaboration with The Domes), food from K&L’s BBQ, $4.14 Keg Killer specials, and an all-local music playlist all day long.

Blessing Of The Bock @ Falcon Bowl
The 36th annual Blessing Of The Bock will double as a tribute to Whispering Jeff. The $30 admission includes samples of bock beer from 11 local breweries, a complimentary Usinger’s brat, and musical accompaniment from Polka Don & Becky.

414 MKE Day/Sunday Funday @ Urban Harvest Brewing Company
The Walker’s Point brewery will be hosting a potluck and offering its 414 Golden Ale for $4 per pint from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

414 Day “Jell-O, Milwaukee” Flight Night @ Indeed Brewing
Indeed Brewing Company might’ve started in Minneapolis, but it has quickly made itself at home in Milwaukee as well with its Walker’s Point taproom. They’ll celebrate April 14 with a “Jell-O, Milwaukee Flight Night,” which will find the brewery offering unique Jell-O-inspired infusions of its Hello, Milwaukee beer. There will also be a taco truck on-site and Milwaukee-themed trivia.

414 Day @ Sprecher Brewery
Sprecher will celebrate “414 Day” by holding a Necessity Drive for Street Angels Of Milwaukee on Sunday, April 14 from noon to 5 p.m. at its brewery. The event also includes a bags tournament, live music by The Lightways from 2-4 p.m., a Bloody Mary bar, a raffle with proceeds going to Street Angels, and a variety of $4.14 specials including brewery tours (children under five are always free), 4-packs for 414 Custom Label Root Beer, 12-inch pizza, and select Sprecher merchandise.
