Every (non-pandemic) Milwaukee summer has at least one of those days—a day when it seems approximately 8,000 music festivals, block parties, food fests, and other shindigs are happening at once. For Milwaukee Summer 2023, ONE OF THOSE DAYS is Saturday, July 22.
Here’s a brief guide to this sure-to-be-zany day. And we’re probably missing a bunch of stuff! Enjoy, Milwaukee! Stay safe! Have fun! Here’s hoping it’s not too loud!
Milwaukee Air & Water Show @ Milwaukee Lakefront (through July 23)
Thought all the Harleys were loud this past weekend? Well buckle up for the annual Milwaukee Air & Water Show, the sound of which will dominate the city’s skies on Saturday and Sunday. Actually, never mind: we love the air show! It’s the best! And no, we’re absolutely not saying that because dozens of patriotic Americans threatened us last year when we suggested the air show was a little loud! God bless America!
Enlightened Summer Block Party @ Enlightened Brewing Company
Good lord it’s another Saturday block party! You gotta love Milwaukee in the summer. Find more info on the Enlightened Block Party HERE!
Riverwest Food Truck Rally @ Gathering Place Brewing Company
Two separate food truck fests on a day that already has four separate block parties? Find more info on the Riverwest Food Truck Rally HERE!
Bug Moment + Honey Creek, Excuse Me Who Are You?, Garden Home, Chapped Lips @ 4 Seasons Skate Park
Popular Milwaukee band Bug Moment made headlines last month by announcing a July 22 show in the parking lot of the Bayshore Culver’s. But the ButterBurger-infused dream didn’t last long: three days later, the show was canceled. Now, the full five-band show is set to take place at Milwaukee’s 4 Seasons Skate Park. Oh, and not only will it take place at the venerable indoor park, but it will take place in the park’s bowl. It’s apparently the first bowl show in 4 Seasons history!
Ayre In The Square: Colorblind Chameleon + Chris Haise Band, Mark Waldoch, Mark Soriano @ Catalano Square
No, it’s not a block party. Nor is it a skate park show that was relocated from a suburban Culver’s. This is just an outdoor show with a great lineup.
Rainbow Summer @ Marcus Performing Arts Center
Drive/walk/bike/skip past the Marcus Center and you’ll see its lawn filled with giant inflatable bubbles, a.k.a. artist Atelier Sisu’s “Evanescent” installation. But that’s not all for Marcus’ annual Rainbow Summer blowout: the series wraps up in grand fashion on July 22 with a performances from Mucca Pazza—not to mention a Dark Side Of The Moon multimedia experience—will highlight the annual festival all week and weekend long.
Big Time Rush @ American Family Insurance Amphitheater
This appears to be some type of boy band.
Late Night Drive Home + Benches @ Cactus Club
No idea who these bands are, but this is happening too!
The Sinatra Experience + Dave Halston
Probably Frank Sinatra covers with some dude named Dave Halston opening in some capacity.
Chastity Washington @ The Laughing Tap
Fresh off the release of her Amazon special, Milwaukee’s funniest human will perform two sets at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. at The Laughing Tap.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Atlanta Braves @ American Family Insurance Field
Sure, why not just toss a Brewers home game on top of all this?!
“It’s Alive On The Riverwalk” Busker Music Series @ Riverwalk
Lakefront Brewery: Blacktop
Location TBD: Maximiano
Kansas @ The Riverside Theater
Carry on, Milwaukee Record readers. There’ll be peace when July 22 is done.
