Tuesday was a career-defining night for Jrue Holiday. The Bucks star scored 40 points—including a shot from beyond half court and a clutch three in overtime—and flashed some timely defense to lead Milwaukee to a win over the Celtics. The amazing performance during a national broadcast only further confirmed that Holiday absolutely deserves his spot on this year’s NBA All-Star Team. It also reminded Bucks fans how lucky we are to have a player like him on the roster.
In addition to being one of the best players in the Association this season, Holiday has shown himself time and time again to be one of the best humans in all of pro sports. Along with his wife (former U.S. soccer player Lauren Holiday, who is also instrumental in the couple’s philanthropic efforts), Jrue has donated millions of dollars to small business owners and community organizations both in Wisconsin and other parts of the country. Over the course of his career, he’s also been a shining example of kindness, generosity, selflessness, and parenthood that we should all try to emulate. The fact he’s also one of the best defenders in the NBA is just a bonus. As far as we’re concerned, Jrue Holiday is the MVP—Most Valuable Person—in the NBA.
As Holiday prepares for a well-deserved All-Star Weekend, we figured we’d assemble and rank some examples of the awesomeness he’s displayed on the court and that both he and Lauren have accomplished off the court. We’re sure we’re likely leaving out a ton of highlights and headlines, but you get the idea!
