Back in October 2023, beloved Milwaukee radio station WMSE 91.7 did a live three-hour broadcast from beloved Milwaukee argument-starter The Hop. We hung out that day and helped out. It was fun!
Now, WMSE is HOPPING back on the streetcar for a special “Hip Hop Hooray” show. The show will broadcast live from The Hop on Saturday, November 16 from noon to 3 p.m. As the name and time slot suggest, “Hip Hop Hooray” will be a live installment of the long-running and always-fantastic Saturday Afternoon Boogie Bang with DJ Barry.
“We’re putting a new spin on the concept of a live remote broadcast,” says WMSE Station Manager Tom Crawford in a press release “Hip Hop Hooray brings WMSE’s passion for music to the rails, transforming a routine commute into a fun musical journey. We’re grateful to our partners at The Hop for collaborating with us on this unique event.”
The press release also teases “special guests from Milwaukee’s vibrant creative community” as well as “a surprise guest appearance that promises to add extra excitement to the event.”
We’re guessing Mayor Cavalier Johnson, Milverine, the guy who pops up in the comments for every story on The Hop and asks “HOW MUCH MONEY DID IT MAKE?” or, who knows, Jack White.
