Summer may be over, but that doesn’t mean the memory of summer has to be over. A new music video series, No Wake!, is here to keep that warm-weather memory alive, showing various local musicians boating along the Milwaukee River and performing stripped-down versions of their finest tunes. And keeping their speed to under 5 m.p.h. You know, “no wake” and all.

Likewise, SistaStrings may have recently relocated to Nashville, but that doesn’t mean the Milwaukee-born duo isn’t Milwaukee for life. Sisters Chauntee and Monique Ross are featured in the inaugural No Wake! episode, performing “Her Name Was” and “The Sound.” Along the way they chat about intersectionality, their move to Nashville, and how Milwaukee can better support and retain artists. Creating and watching top-shelf productions like No Wake! is a good place to start on that last one.

No Wake! is produced by Silver City Studios. The SistaStrings episode was shot by Milwaukee treasure Wes Tank, and is sponsored by Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin. Milwaukee Record is proud to join Breaking And Entering and OnMilwaukee as official media partners of the entire series. Future episodes will feature Klassik and Caley Conway. Stay tuned!
