The past few years have seen the release of a handful of singles from English-born singer-songwriter Aymen Saleh and his Milwaukee indie-pop group Holy Pinto—but no proper records. Songs like 2020’s “Special” and 2022’s “Us, Married” have been great (the latter was produced by Bartees Strange), but wouldn’t it be great if they were collected on a single album, complete with more Holy Pinto songs?
It would! Which is why we’re excited for Holy Pinto’s first LP in seven years, Wedding Season, due September 14. “Special” and “Us, Married” are on the record, along with other previously released songs like “We’re All Doomed Forever” and “Death Is In The Air.” And add to that the just-released “One Tattoo,” which finds Holy Pinto in winningly wistful mood.
What’s “One Tattoo” about? “It’s about romantic pull and devotion meeting the fear of permanence,” Saleh says. “It asks whether someone can trade their chaos for commitment—and whether an irreversible choice that feels certain today can weather the will of Father Time.”
Speaking of Father Time, you can get a jump on the September release of Wedding Season by pre-ordering the album NOW. Want to go back in time? Revisit Holy Pinto’s terrific 2020 EP Milwaukee: A Love Story Of Truck Stops, Soccer Bars, And A Big Blue Van below.
