Way back on January 15, 10 acts from all corners of Milwaukee music came together at Turner Hall to do something special. Milwaukee Record‘s second annual Local Coverage benefit brought a varied mix of bands to the historic ballroom to pay tribute to each other and raise some money for worthy local organizations in the process. By night’s end, more than 500 people heard glorious cover sets and Girls Rock Milwaukee and Guest House Of Milwaukee were each $1,711.16 richer. If we may say so, it was awesome.
With Local Coverage 2017 less than a month away, we thought we’d offer those who didn’t make the show an opportunity to hear some of what they missed and give those who were in attendance a chance to listen back to some highlights. Technical difficulties prevented the entire show from being recorded, but you can still hear Klassik cover Decibully, Decibully’s version of Soul Low songs, Soul Low’s take on Tigernite, Tigernite’s showstopping adaptation of GGOOLLDD, GGOOLLDD’s variation of Maritime material, and Whiskeybelles’ country fried set as Fox Face.
