After nearly 10 years of holding down the corner of Downer and Belleview on the city’s east side, Milwaukee staple Pizza Man is preparing to move. “Within the coming weeks,” Pizza Man will move from its current home at 2597 N. Downer Ave. to the recently vacated Stubby’s Gastrogrub space at 2060 N. Humboldt Blvd.

The reason? Lease is up.

“The team and I are very excited to move into a developing area of the city, as well as offer our guests a great outdoor patio space with beautiful views of the river,” says Regional General Manager Jay Culp in a press release.

The press release continues:

The new location will open with many of the Pizza Man favorites, as well as new items to enjoy. Pizza Man customers will see the classic pizzas, pastas, salads, the great wine list and craft beers that they have come to love. But, with 53 taps lines, the restaurant is adding in more variety with local and craft beers, signature cocktails and of course, more wine!

Stubby’s Gastrogrub recently closed its Humboldt spot after 12 years in business.

Pizza Man opened on Downer Avenue in 2013. (R.I.P. Lixx, which it replaced.) Its original Milwaukee location, located on North Avenue and opened in 1970, was destroyed in a fire in 2010. (R.I.P. Grecian Delight and Cush, which were destroyed, too.)

If all goes well with licensing, Pizza Man plans to open at its new location in mid to late March. Pizza Man’s Wauwatosa location, in the Mayfair Collection, is remaining put.

Here’s a press release:

The opening date is dependent upon city licensing, but is expected to open mid to late March. The new location hours and Grand Opening specials will be released once the transition plan is finalized. Pizza Man guests will continue to see Happy Hour, BOGO Tuesday and Wine Wednesday specials, along with the addition of game-day and brunch menus.
