From October 17 through the 31st, the 2019 Milwaukee Film Festival will light up local screens with more than 300 films. Milwaukee Record is once again the proud sponsor of the festival’s “Cinema Hooligante” program, which you can read all about HERE. In years past, we’ve also hosted bowling tournaments and axe-throwing nights during the fest; this year, we’re trying something different. For five nights in October, we’ll be bringing you Milwaukee Record LiveSCREAM Theater, a live-on-the-internet viewing party of classic public domain horror and sci-fi films. Want to join us in watching flicks like Night Of The Living Dead and Attack Of The Giant Leeches and comment/joke along as the films roll? NOW YOU CAN.
On Tuesday, October 1; Tuesday, October 8; Tuesday, October 15; Tuesday, October 22; and Monday, October 28, tune in to Milwaukee Record‘s YouTube channel at 8 p.m. and join Matt Wild and various special guests as they watch five public domain doozies:
Tuesday, October 1
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968) w/ Tigernite
Tuesday, October 8
ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES (1959) w/ Jack Packard and Maggie Iken
Tuesday, October 15
DEMENTIA 13 (1963) w/ cast and crew of The Field (Tate Bunker, Kara Mulrooney, Tim Higgins, Mark Borchardt)
Tuesday, October 22
THE BRAIN THAT WOULDN’T DIE (1962) w/ Mack Bates
Monday, October 28
KILLERS FROM SPACE (1954) w/ Rick Katschke and Rob Wieland
You’ll be able to join the fun via an on-screen live chat. Just log into your YouTube account and comment away! We’ll also be monitoring Facebook and Twitter (#MRLST) if you’d like to chat with us that way. Seen these movies 8,000 times already? Who cares! It’s all about watching brain-eating/blood-sucking monsters together. Oh, and we’ll be giving away tickets to the 2019 Milwaukee Film Festival during the livestreams! And there’ll be other surprises, too! Fun!
As for the overall vibe, think a cross between Mystery Science Theater 3000 (but with less “riffing”) and classic horror movie hosts like Joe Bob Briggs, Elvira, and Svengoolie. We’ll see you on the small screen!
