Remember My Office? That little dive bar and restaurant at 763 N. Milwaukee St.? Where you could get a drink and if you were hungry the lady behind the bar might randomly make you some spaghetti? Yeah, that was My Office. It closed in 2020, but its spirit lives on in a new bar and restaurant opening in the space in the upcoming weeks. The new joint’s name? Your Office, of course.

Your Office is the brainchild of new owners Lisa Proeber, Nick Starr, and Michael Sorge. Proeber is handling sales, marketing, and public relations. Starr is handling community relations. Sorge, the owner of wine tap bar and restaurant Black Sheep, is in charge of daily operations. A grand opening weekend is set for November 14-16. A soft opening is set for Wednesday, October 22.

Your Office isn’t your ordinary dive bar. It will be open 7:30 a.m. to bar close, seven days a week. A “Morning Meeting” breakfast menu is stocked with things like fancy egg sandwiches, breakfast bowls, avocado toast, and an egg-topped brat dubbed the “HR Violation.” Those items—plus coffee from Pedestrian—are available until 11 a.m. and can be ordered and enjoyed inside or picked up from a walk-up window.

After 11, the menu changes to lunch and dinner options like a quarter-pound burger (“The Promotion Patty”), a BLT sandwich (“The BLAT Memo”), a sauerkraut-topped brat (“Timecard Turner”), and, yes, a fried bologna sandwich (“Bologna Policy”).

At the bar, you’ll find all the expected dive bar libations plus cocktails like the “Your Office Bloody,” a “Sconnie Old Fashioned,” and, in a nod to My Office (and Tim & Eric), a bottle of High Life and a shot of Aperol dubbed “Spaghett.”

Befitting its name, Your Office’s interior decor is less “dive bar” and more “1950s-’80s corporate America.” Rotary phones, calculators, and briefcases share space with vintage neon beer signs. Random business awards and plaques (many donated from neighbors and friends) dot the walls. There are old desk lamps and corporate handbooks. There are old staplers and three-hole punches. There’s a water cooler, and, because this is Wisconsin, there are pull tabs and video blackjack machines in the back room.

We checked things out at a Monday press event, and we have to admit: Your Office looks pretty great. It fills a need in the downtown scene (breakfast items are promised to be delivered quickly), its theme is unique and perfectly executed, and our fried bologna sandwich was delicious. Plus, there’s a secret back entrance!
