The Northwestern Mutual Community Park—a.k.a. the recently spiffed-up playground on the Summerfest grounds—will open for the season on Tuesday, April 19.
Similar to its inaugural 2021 season, the park will be open to the public seven days a week, from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. And yes, that includes days when there are no events or festivals happening on the Summerfest grounds.
“We are excited to open the Northwestern Mutual Community Park to the community and bring more free family fun to Henry Maier Festival Park,” says Don Smiley, President and CEO of Milwaukee World Festival, Inc., in a press release. “The Northwestern Mutual Community Park quickly became a popular destination, hosting tens of thousands of attendees during its first year of operation in 2021.”
In addition to the regular hours, “Sunday Family Fun Days” will take place June 19, July 17, August 7, September 18, and October 9, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. These free events “will feature a full day of family-friendly programming on the Northwestern Mutual Community Park stage, featuring local arts and community groups including Danceworks, First Stage, and Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, among others. Other activities include balloon artists, face painters, exhibitors, food trucks and more.”
Days and hours of operation may change, so check MilwaukeeWorldFestival.com before planning your trip. Need to park? Free parking is available in Lot G, just south of the Mid-Gate. Or you can walk or bike in using that Summerfest Lakewalk, which is pretty neat! Oh, and no pets allowed.
