It was just yesterday that we brought you the news that West Allis is getting a slingshot bar. (Yes, a slingshot bar.) And now, perhaps inevitably, we’re here to report that the city is set to get an indoor pickleball facility, too.
But it’s not just any indoor pickleball facility. It’s an indoor pickleball facility from The Picklr, “North America’s fastest-growing indoor pickleball franchise.” The Utah-based company will open a 29,920-square-foot, 10-court facility at 2550 S. 108th St. in West Allis this summer. The courts will boast “high-quality proprietary outdoor surfacing from Just Courts, the official court layer for The Professional Pickleball Association (PPA).” There’ll also be a pro shop and private event space.
“This is the third of eight planned locations that The Picklr will have in the state of Wisconsin,” says a spokesperson affiliated with The Picklr. “Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the nation and demand for indoor pickleball courts has continued to grow. The Picklr offers a world-class experience complete with state-of-the-art clubs, all-inclusive, one-price memberships, combined with a ‘player-first’ optimal environment, and unmatched programming for all ages. The community will benefit from the best-in-class indoor pickleball experience offered anywhere as well as have reciprocal access to the other club locations nationwide.”
The Picklr’s other Wisconsin locations are in Green Bay and Menomonee Falls. The latter is set to open May 3.
West Allis Picklr members will enjoy “unlimited open play, league play and tournaments, and an option to enroll in private and semi-private lessons and clinics by The Picklr’s certified trainers.” There’ll be an enclosed community space, too, “ideal for hosting corporate and celebratory events.”
