Milwaukee’s First Romance Bookstore Opens June 21
MILWAUKEE, WI — June 21, 2025 — Love is in the air — and on the shelves — as The Well Red Damsel, Milwaukee’s first romance-focused bookstore, opens its doors this June. Founded by Natasha Meyer, a local entrepreneur and lifelong romance reader, The Well Red Damsel is a woman- and queer-owned business with a mission to create a welcoming, judgment-free space for romance lovers of all kinds.
After building a community of romance readers through pop-up events across the city, The Well Red Damsel is now bringing its curated collection of romance novels and bookish merchandise to a permanent location in Wauwatosa at 6429 W North Ave. The bookstore will feature everything from spicy contemporary stories to slow-burn fantasy epics — all celebrating love in its many forms.
More than just a bookstore, The Well Red Damsel aims to redefine what it means to be a “damsel” — not distressed, but empowered. With cozy vibes, community events, and a focus on inclusivity, the store is poised to become a haven for readers and romantics alike.
“Romance readers are often dismissed or judged, but our stories are powerful — they’re about hope, connection, and the kind of joy we all deserve,” says founder Natasha. “This store is my love letter to the genre and the people who love it.”
