Every Wednesday at noon, Ryan Schleicher, Evan Rytlewski, and Matt Wild take to the WMSE airwaves to discuss all things Milwaukee. This half-hour fun-fest is called The Disclaimer, so named because none of the oft-ridiculous views expressed on the show necessarily reflect the views of the hosts’ employers. Milwaukee music, Milwaukee art, Milwaukee events, and D.I.Y. lawn care tips are frequently discussed—and rarely agreed upon. The Disclaimer: Talk radio for the sane.
For nearly two years, former Milwaukee musician and lifetime music enthusiast Jim Hanke has been chatting with folks about all things vinyl on his Vinyl Emergency podcast. Guests have included everyone from Rosanne Cash and Matthew Sweet to Steve Hyden and Victor DeLorenzo. With Record Store Day Black Friday on the horizon—and Vinyl Emergency participating in MusiCares’ hurricane relief efforts—Ryan, Evan, and Matt welcome Hanke to the WMSE studios to talk, well, all things vinyl. Does vinyl really sound better than other formats? Is the vinyl reissue game a little out of control? How does streaming figure into all this? All that and more, including Ryan saying “ninety-one-point-Evan” instead of “ninety-one-point-seven.”
