Winter in Wisconsin may not be as brutally cold as it has been in the past (thank you, “non-existent” climate change), but it’s still winter. A long, slushy slog of short days, wind chills, and elusive parking rules. But there’s hope: Nice FM, a Milwaukee-based production house and electronic label, has just released a compilation of hazy, sun-kissed tracks that will transport you to the aural equivalent of an episode of Miami Vice (or that “San Junipero” episode of Black Mirror).
Headed up by Milwaukee producer Dashcam (he of the latest NO/NO EP), the so-called “Night Swim” mix contains retro, synth-y swells from such local notables as Q The Sun, Luxi, Storm Chaser, Immortal Girlfriend, and more. Put down the ice scraper for an hour and give it a listen.
