Is there anything better than the annual Milwaukee Film Festival? No. Is there anything better than bowling? Strangely, also no. So why not combine the two? From September 28 through October 12, the screens of the Landmark Oriental Theatre, Landmark Downer Theatre, Fox-Bay Cinema Grill, Times Cinema, and Avalon Theater will be lit up with hundreds upon hundreds of MFF2017 films. And on Tuesday, October 3, the historic Landmark Lanes will also be lit up (so to speak) with the second coming of “There Will Be Bowling,” a movie-themed bowling tournament brought to you by Milwaukee Record and the Milwaukee Film Festival. This is gonna be good.
What can you expect this time around? How about more prizes, including MFF2017 tickets, Milwaukee Record swag, more swag from our generous sponsors, and ridiculous movie junk from the ’80s and ’90s? How about karaoke in the side bar? How about a free Cinema Hooligante film at the Oriental Theater? How about complimentary pitchers of beer for each team? How about taking the “Electric Boogaloo” bit to its logical extreme and making this thing cosmic bowling? Oh, and one more thing: Milwaukee Record is putting together a team, too, and there will be super-secret prizes for any team that can beat us. Think you can take us down? You probably can!

THERE WILL BE BOWLING 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO
A movie-themed bowling tournament during the 2017 Milwaukee Film Festival, sponsored by Milwaukee Record.
WHEN: Tuesday, October 3, 6-9 p.m.
WHERE: Landmark Lanes
COST: $10 per person
WHAT YOU GET FOR $10: 3 games of bowling, 1 pair of shoes, 1 free ticket to a Cinema Hooligante film at the Oriental Theatre immediately following the tournament (film TBA), one complimentary pitcher of beer for your team.
RULES: We’re keeping things simple. Five teams (plus the Milwaukee Record team) of four to five people will bowl three games. Top three bowlers on each team will be scored. Highest series wins. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams. Additional prizes will be awarded to teams that beat the Milwaukee Record team (don’t worry; only one of us is an okay bowler). Costumes from bowling-tastic movies (There Will Be Blood, The Big Lebowski, Kingpin, Buffalo 66, etc.) are encouraged. All skill levels are welcome. Have fun.
