If you thought Friday’s Pabst Theater show was the conclusion of the Great Sylvan Esso-Milwaukee Courtship of 2014, think again. The Durham, NC duo solidified its local connection with a new video for “Dreamy Bruises.” Co-directed by Milwaukeeans Bob Purvis and Timm Gable, and edited by The Fatty Acids drummer Cole Quamme, the music video has no shortage of Easter eggs that honor Milwaukee.

Filmed in early July, after Sylvan Esso’s Burnhearts/Pabst Street Party show, the majority of the “Dreamy” clip was shot in Bay View (notice landmarks like Sky High and Honeypie) and Riverwest (Fuel Cafe motorcycle shop interiors), with wilderness scenes captured near Kettle Moraine. Furthering the local connection are cameos by No Future’s Ryan Smith, a WMSE patch, Milwaukee Record contributor Maureen Post, a KPolly mural, and numerous others.
