In 2018, we introduced you to Valerie Lighthart—a musician who also has a background in photography, writing, acting, and modeling—by premiering “I’ll Be Damned.” Since putting out that debut single, the Milwaukee multi-hyphenate released two EPs, let a few producers take a crack at remixing one of her songs, and started playing out more frequently. A few months after putting out an excellent music video for a song called “Love & Money,” Lighthart is preparing for even bigger things in 2021 with another new single.

“Savior” will be featured on an EP Lighthart plans to release next year. The larger-than-life pop song was produced by Crystal Knives, who co-wrote the song. The single was mixed by Daniel Holter of Wire & Vice and mastered by Justin Perkins at Mystery Room Mastering. According to Lighthart, the song “navigates the unique space of being worshiped for something that you aren’t, and the fun of trying that identity on.”

Lighthart’s next EP, PT. I: THE GODDESS, will be released in February, and “Savior” will be part of that release. The song will also get a music video treatment in January. Before that video and the EP come out next winter, you can listen to “Savior” below.
