Following a busy breakout year in 2019 that included tons of memorable live performances, oodles of local press, and the release of the Tampons EP, Milwaukee singer, rapper, and producer Shle Berry was poised for even bigger and better things in 2020. Of course, the world had other ideas.

Though—like most other artists in Milwaukee and everywhere else—the pandemic tossed her off course a bit, she has found her footing again and has released a handful of singles since 2021. With more music and an increase in live outings on the way, Berry wanted to take a moment to reach back into her catalog to breathe new life into an old single before bounding ahead.

This week saw Berry releasing a new music video for her 2018 song “Wrong Way.” However, the time-tested track received a live vocal treatment, with the singer/rapper performing the song in a hazy and cozy living room setting. Berry tells us it’s her take on NPR‘s “Tiny Desk” video series. In addition to the sleek visuals of the performance itself, videographers Jason Puls (a.k.a. Wildtype) and Lily Shea also include footage of Berry exploring parts of Riverwest and the Third Ward at dusk.

As you get ready for even bigger and better things ahead for Shle Berry, take a beat to see, hear, and experience her “Wrong Way” single in a whole new way.
