AI slop. It’s everywhere. People use it to create shitty, piss-colored flyers. People use it to create shitty, impenetrable “investigations.” People use it to create, shitty, hilariously awful “Milwaukee summer anthems” that they quickly try to scrub from the internet but aha! It’s still on YouTube!
Anyway, fuck all that junk. Let’s instead celebrate real artists making real music. Or, to be more specific, let’s celebrate Milwaukee indie-pop group Oh Geeez, Not Again and its new single “Painted By Numbers.” And yes, the song is totally about AI. (Sample lyric: “The eyes are soulless and decayed / But they’ll get better every day.”)
“‘Painted By Numbers’ is inspired by our worries over what a world overrun with AI will look like,” says singer Sean McGibany. “As creatives, we are obviously very disturbed by how quickly AI has become part of our daily lives, but as AI and data centers have become an issue of particular concern here in the Milwaukee area and Wisconsin as a whole, we hope that this song resonates with anyone who is concerned about the future of our state and its resources—especially as we go into the elections this November.”
‘Nuff said! Here’s the song! Down with AI! Up with simple and delightfully crummy Photoshop flyers that everyone used to make but now seem like relics of a simpler time!
