This week is Milwaukee Black Restaurant Week—so what better way to celebrate than to announce a new, Black-owned Milwaukee restaurant? Enter Pat’s Rib Place, a Waukesha-based restaurant specializing in Southern-style barbecue that plans to open a new location in the Milwaukee Public Market this summer.

“The Public Market is one of the venues that has helped put Milwaukee ‘on the map,'” say Pat’s Rib Place owners Alisha and Ty Hayes in a press release. “We are thrilled to showcase our cuisine and family history at such an iconic and well renowned Milwaukee attraction.”

Pat’s will serve up “their signature smoked barbecue ribs, chicken wings, beef brisket, sauces and other delicacies.” Those other delicacies include “pulled pork, smoked pastrami, corned beef and an array of sides such as cornbread, smoked baked beans and homemade potato salad.” YES.

Pat’s Rib Place coming to Milwaukee Public Market
Female, Black-owned business brings Southern-BBQ & cuisine to Third Ward

Milwaukee, WISC – The Milwaukee Public Market announced today Pat’s Rib Place will join its list of locally-owned vendors. The addition marks the second location for the Black-owned business, which currently operates a successful location on Sunset Drive in Waukesha. Pat’s will target a summer opening at the Historic Third Ward destination, providing their signature smoked barbecue ribs, chicken wings, beef brisket, sauces and other delicacies which have earned them high praise as a top Milwaukee area barbecue eatery.

“In every way – from quality product to hospitable customer service – Pat’s reputation is among the best in the Milwaukee area,” said Paul Schwartz, executive director of the Milwaukee Public Market and Business Improvement District #2. “We are beyond excited to welcome Pat’s to the Market, the city of Milwaukee and Third Ward neighborhood, and look forward to expanding our food culture with their mouth-watering culinary offerings for our patrons.”

Owners Alisha and Ty Hayes opened Pat’s Rib Place in Waukesha in 2009, with a focus on Southern-style barbecue as a tribute to Alisha’s mother (Pat) and her Southern cooking style. The public market location will be their first and only operation in Milwaukee. Pat’s meats are smoked daily and often served with homemade sauces, which will also be sold by the jar at the public market. Other offerings at the market will include pulled pork, smoked pastrami, corned beef and an array of sides such as cornbread, smoked baked beans and homemade potato salad.
