Back in 2022, Milwaukee author Luke Geddes released the first issue of his TV Grime zine. It was a 116-page collection of, in Geddes’ words, “reviews and free associations of every Halloween episode I’ve ever seen.” TV Grime has covered other television topics since then (the issue on Twin Peaks and Peaks-inspired TV is a must-read), but Halloween TV has remained close to Geddes’ heart.

On Thursday, October 24, that love will come to life at X-Ray Arcade, in a live installment of TV Grime. Not only will Geddes screen “an autumnal cornucopia of vintage Halloween television,” it’ll all come complete with vintage commercials, as originally broadcast. There’s no cover for the show. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the fun begins at 7:30 p.m.

What episodes will be included? “We’re keeping the exact lineup under more wraps than Boris Karloff,” Geddes says, “but here’s a hallowed hint: you can count on appearances from a certain yellow cartoon family, a red-headed Nickelodeon classic, angsty ’90s teens, obsolete sitcom families, and much, much more!”

And there is more! Expect curated pre- and post-show exhibitions, games, and prizes. Oh, and COSTUMES ARE ENCOURAGED! “Come dressed as a beloved TV character or spooky Halloween ghoul,” Geddes says. We’ve got dibs on one of Darlene’s costumes from the original run of Roseanne.
