Milwaukee Record is working in partnership with Urban Cat Coalition—a local organization that’s dedicated to creating a no kill community by humanely reducing the cat population in the Milwaukee area through targeted trap-neuter-return (TNR)—to help find loving homes for area cats. Each week, we plan to highlight a feline friend that’s currently up for adoption by naming it “Milwaukee Record’s Cat Of The Week.” This week: a chill dude known as Blackjack.

Meet Blackjack! Blackjack is a handsome fellow with bright golden eyes and a silky soft coat. He purrs frequently and does the cutest meows for food and attention. He loves getting pet all over—from face to belly to tail.

Unsure about toys, he’s not very playful and acts like doesn’t want to “hurt” them. Catnip, on the other hand, brings out his playful side. He likes toys filled with the herb.

Blackjack comes to you for scritches, but otherwise gives you space. At night, he’s a gentleman. He doesn’t wake you at the crack of dawn, doesn’t stick his butt in your face, or lay on your head. He’ll let you get your sleep.

He would be happiest in a home with at least a couple of humans to meet his daily petting requirements. Blackjack has not met young children, but since he doesn’t like to be carried around or manipulated too much, he’d be happiest with older children who are respectful of the ways of cats. He would adore having a feline friend.
