Every Wednesday at noon, Ryan Schleicher, Evan Rytlewski, and Matt Wild take to the WMSE airwaves to discuss all things Milwaukee. This half-hour fun-fest is called The Disclaimer, so named because none of the oft-ridiculous views expressed on the show necessarily reflect the views of the hosts’ employers. Milwaukee music, Milwaukee art, Milwaukee events, and D.I.Y. lawn care tips are frequently discussed—and rarely agreed upon. The Disclaimer: talk radio for the sane.

With another Milwaukee Day (4/14) in the books, Ryan, Evan, and Matt look back on the homegrown holiday and assess the current state of Milwaukee pride. Is the swell of “local pride at all costs” too much of a good thing? Could it stand to be tempered with a touch of humility and humor? Matt discusses how the image of Milwaukee has changed over the years via T-shirt design, Evan uses an episode of Shark Tank to illustrate the sometimes generic nature of “local” boosterism, and Ryan ponders if Milwaukee pride used to be less external and more internal. Oh, and everyone marvels at a recent OnMilwaukee piece that wonders why random citizens of Beijing, China aren’t familiar with Milwaukee. I mean, come on.
