Summer 2020 will be a strange one for the City of Festivals, since, well, there won’t be any festivals. Nearly all of Milwaukee’s big-ticket music fests, cultural fests, street fests, and blocks parties have been canceled because of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. R.I.P. our (and everyone else’s) normally overstuffed summer festival guides.

But wait! On Thursday, June 25, we’ll be livestreaming our inaugural (and hopefully final) Milwaukee Record Virtual Summer Festival! Tune in to our Facebook page from noon until 8 p.m. for a day’s worth of music, comedy, sports and games, summer-related fun, summer-related mayhem, and maybe a thing where we draft our favorite summer festival foods (kind of like the general “Milwaukee Draft” we did during our 14-Hour Socially Distant Telethon). Will it be a satisfying substitute for the real thing? Of course not, but at least it’s something.

Unlike our Telethon (which was an event to raise funds to support Milwaukee Record), our Virtual Summer Festival will be made possible through the generous support of sponsors. The event is presented by Brady Street BID. Other sponsors include Lakefront Brewery, Crafty Cow, Honeypie, SmallPie, Palomino, Transfer Pizzeria Café, Mystery Room Mastering, Swinney & Associates, Café Corazón, and more. If your business is interested in becoming a sponsor, there are still a few time slots available. Contact Josh Hoppert at [email protected].

Will there be music? Yes. Will there be beer? Yes. Will there be game shows? Yes. Will there be sausage races? Yes. Will there be fireworks? Yes. Will there be a segment where Matt pays tribute to Jazz In The Park by drinking a 35-year-old bottle of Bartles & Jaymes wine cooler in Cathedral Square? See you on June 25!
