Yesterday, Milwaukee lost two of its favorite summer celebrations when Summer Soulstice and the city’s annual Lakefront Fireworks announced their 2020 events have been canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Before Monday’s end, Crusherfest in nearby South Milwaukee also announced its second annual block party will be postponed indefinitely. Those three seasonal celebrations join a long list of summertime standards in and around Milwaukee that have either thrown in the towel on 2020 or pushed their event months into the future (hopefully).

Sadly, you can add one more Milwaukee mainstay to that rapidly growing list today, as this year’s Burnhearts/Pabst Street Party has been canceled on account of COVID-19. The Bay View bar’s 13th annual Pabst Street block party was slated to take place on Saturday, June 20. With that date coming up quick, Burnhearts made the difficult decision to cancel the long-running event.

“I guess our lucky 13th PBR Fest wasn’t so lucky after all,” Burnhearts owner William Seidel tells Milwaukee Record. “Catch you all at Mitten Fest.”

While we mourn the loss of one of our favorite summer staples this June, we want to remind you that Burnhearts has a GoFundMe campaign to help its employees during this tough time. So long (for now), Burnhearts/Pabst Street Party.
