Axe throwing and alcohol—it’s a match made in 2018 bar-gimmick heaven. And hey! There’s an axe throwing joint opening soon on the East Side—June, to be exact.

Yes, the much-anticipated AXE MKE, coming to 1924 E. Kenilworth Pl. (and owned and operated by Marla and David Poytinger, owners of Nine Below), will officially open for business June 20, with a grand opening set for June 16. “Located in the heart of Milwaukee’s East Side,” says AXE MKE’s website, “AXE MKE will open June 20th, 2018 for lane rentals, walk-ins, private events, and corporate groups.” Earlier, soft-opening dates are also available.

To that last point: AXE MKE is currently taking reservations. According to the website, “you’ll get 90 minutes on your own lane(s), an orientation from an Axe Master, room for all the fancy drinks and snacks you’ve ordered, and the chance to upgrade your visit with our best Add-Ons. You’re welcome, Milwaukee.” Fun?

“Trust us. It’s AXE-actly the night out you’ve been looking for.” Okay. Fun! Here’s a press release:

AXE MKE launches reservation system
Milwaukee, WI – AXE MKE, Milwaukee’s axe throwing bar, is ready for your reservations.

“We’ve had people begging us to open reservations since we announced the concept,” said Marla Poytinger, who owns the business with her husband David. “We’re thrilled the launch date is finally here.”

The venue, located at 1924 E Kenilworth Pl on Milwaukee’s East Side, will feature 12 axe throwing lanes and a full bar. Reservations are currently available at www.axemke.com for dates starting June 20th, 2018. Earlier dates in June are also available as part of the bar’s soft opening.

“We’re ready to start booking all the bachelor/bachelorette parties, team building events, baby showers, and even divorce parties that Milwaukee has to offer,” said David Poytinger. “We’ve even had people reach out to us about hosting their Dungeons and Dragons party at AXE MKE this summer – in full costume of course. We said, ‘Bring it on!’”

The Poytingers are well-versed in concept bars. They opened Splash Studio, Milwaukee’s premier painting bar, in the Historic Third Ward nearly six years ago. They opened Nine Below, the mini-golf tavern, in September 2016.

Details about the Grand Opening party on June 16th are still under wraps but are expected soon.
