As all dedicated fans of Milwaukee’s free and non-controversial streetcar The Hop know, the system includes three semi-distinct lines: the main M-Line, which winds through downtown Milwaukee; the smaller L-Line, which includes a stop at the lakefront-adjacent Couture building; and the F-Line, a festival line that’s essentially a combination of the M-Line and the F-Line. Different streetcars run along different lines at different times of day.
UNTIL NOW.
From June 15 through August 31, all Hop streetcars will run along the F-Line. Why? Because it’s festival season, and having every streetcar go to the Lakefront station beneath The Couture is pretty handy!
“With Summerfest kicking off next week, we’re entering Milwaukee’s busiest and most exciting time of year, and that extends to the streetcar as well,” Milwaukee Commissioner of Public Works Jerrel Kruschke says in a press release. “We continue to see more residents and visitors taking advantage of The Hop to reach the festival grounds while avoiding the hassle of parking. With the F-Line, riding the streetcar to summer festivals and events is easier than ever, as every car stops at our Lakefront station.”

F-Line
The press release further explains that “with the F-Line, all northbound vehicles include the loop to the lakefront, while all southbound vehicles follow the usual route. Since all vehicles will serve all stations, passengers can board at any stop along the route and reach the Lakefront station without needing to transfer.”
Oh, and The Hop will also extend its service until 1 a.m. during certain summer festivals. Those certain summer festivals (and dates) are:
Summerfest
June 18-20, June 25-27, July 2-4
German Fest
July 24-25
Irish Fest
August 14-15
Mexican Fiesta
August 21-22
“On all extended service nights, the last northbound streetcar will depart Intermodal at 12:20 a.m. and depart the Lakefront at 12:30 a.m. The final southbound streetcar departs Burns Commons at 12:55 a.m.,” explains the press release.
Okay, argue about the streetcar.
