Milwaukee is a sports town. Despite being one of the smaller professional sports markets in the country, the city ardently shows up to support its franchises through thick and thin. While we’re blessed to be the longtime home of the Brewers and Bucks—as well as the Admirals and Wave, which readers are always happy to remind us are also professional teams in their own right—Milwaukee has also seen a large number of franchises come and go through the years.
As we enjoy a historically great Brewers season, prepare to watch the post-Giannis Bucks try to turn their fate around, and keep our fingers crossed the WNBA or NHL might come calling one day, let’s look back at SOME former Milwaukee sports franchises (and the leagues they were in). As always, we put an emphasis on “some” because the list is probably incomplete, so give us a break.
