Laughing Tap comedy club announces “The Milwaukee Comedy Challenge” stand up contest

Cash prizes, paid gigs awarded to the top comics each week this summer

Milwaukee, WI – The Laughing Tap, Milwaukee’s premier stand up comedy club, announces a “friendly battle of wits” with “The Milwaukee Comedy Challenge’. Up to 40 area comics will compete in stand up presentation and writing challenges for a $1000 Grand Prize and a headlining night at The Laughing Tap (761 N. Jefferson St., Milwaukee WI). Beginning Wednesday, July 15th and Thursday, July 16th, comics will compete for a limited number of spots in the next weekly round presenting original stand up material in front of a live audience and a panel of industry professionals. Each week, the audience favorite and judges favorite will be awarded a cash prize and receive paid stage time on an upcoming professional show.

Over $2000 in prize money and more than two hours of stage time will be awarded throughout the comedy challenge that will take place over 5 weeks in July and August. After the preliminary round, comics will perform their original material, as well as new material based on a joke writing challenge given the week prior. The final round will feature the top contenders on Friday, August 14th at The Laughing Tap, where the winner will receive $1,000, a spot in the Milwaukee Comedy Festival, and a paid headlining show at The Laughing Tap.

Comics interested in The Milwaukee Comedy Challenge can fill out a simple Submission Form HERE, must be a Wisconsin based comic that regularly performs at open mics in town and/ or is booked on paid gigs, or produce local shows (At least 1/ month on average), and comics must be able to attend and perform in all rounds of the challenge.
